Stair carpet cleaning
Carpeted stairs get dirty faster than any room because every trip up and down lands on the same small area, and the front edge of each step takes the pivot of every foot. Why do stairs look worse than the rest of the carpet?
Three reasons, and none of them is that the stairs were missed. Traffic is concentrated: a hallway spreads footsteps across its width, a step takes them in the same place every time. The front edge takes the pivot, which crushes the pile and grinds soil into it. And stairs are hard to vacuum properly, so soil builds up in the back corners where the tread meets the riser.

Can the front edge be brought back?
The soil can. Crushed or worn pile on the edge is wear, not dirt, and cleaning cannot rebuild fibre that has been worn away, though grooming helps crushed pile stand up. How long before the stairs can be used?
Stairs are used the moment the work is done, so less moisture goes onto them than onto a bedroom, and they dry faster. Walk on them carefully in clean socks until they are dry, and keep pets off them. A fan at the bottom of the stairs speeds it up.
How often should stairs be cleaned?
